International Commodities

Obsidian Group is active across a diverse range of international commodities, working through established relationships with producers, suppliers, refineries and other participants in global supply chains.

Our activities span food products, industrial food ingredients, energy, precious metals, minerals and gemstones, with our involvement determined by the nature of each commodity and transaction.

Foodstuffs and FMCG

Foodstuffs and FMCG form an important part of our commodities activities.

We work with factory suppliers across a range of products including beef, chicken, canned goods and other fast-moving consumer goods. Our relationships allow us to discuss requirements directly with established suppliers and to participate in transactions involving commercial quantities for international markets.

Fruit Purees and Concentrates

Through our specialist fruit products business, we also supply fruit purees and concentrates for industrial food manufacturers.

This activity is focused specifically on bulk industrial ingredients and connects buyers with established food-processing manufacturers and their production, technical and export capabilities. Further information is available from Obsidian Fruit Paste & Juice.

Energy Commodities

The Group is also active in energy commodities, including natural gas, petroleum and diesel.

We work through relationships with government suppliers and refineries, with opportunities considered according to the product, quantities required, destination, commercial terms and the circumstances of the proposed transaction.

Metals, Minerals and Gemstones

Precious metals, industrial metals and gemstones represent another significant area of activity.

These include gold, silver, platinum and copper, together with diamonds, Tanzanite and other gemstones. This activity complements the Group’s wider involvement in the minerals and metals sector and its established relationships in Africa.

Solar Power and Energy Projects

Beyond the trading of physical commodities, Obsidian is actively involved in large-scale solar power plant installations in Africa for electricity supply.

This reflects the Group’s broader involvement in energy and infrastructure projects alongside its conventional commodity activities.

Transaction Requirements

The nature and scale of international commodity transactions can vary considerably, and each opportunity is considered individually according to the parties involved, product specification, quantity, origin, destination and commercial requirements.
